Sailing At Levington Marina

On June 10th a group of 6 students from Riverwalk were able to go sailing at Levington Marina.

The morning was spent sailing on the Marina. Students were able to experience how the wind moves the boat when the sails are moved using ropes on either side of the boat. Some students were able to have a go at holding the rudder to steer the boat, others enjoyed the movement of the boat. Everyone had a good time and we had lots of smiles. After lunch we explored different types of wildlife found in the water, including crabs, shrimps, shells and various seaweeds. Some students made mobiles with sticks, feathers and shells, others made ‘play areas ’ for the crabs – something to engage everyone!

Riverwalk Staff Well-Being Survey Results April 2019

Over April the staff at Riverwalk School were asked a range of wellbeing questions about their work and how they felt about it. The anonymous survey was in two forms:
An Online survey where statements were rated 1 – 5 and a paper survey where more open questions were asked. There was an aggregated response rate of 44%.
We have already had meetings with staff to feedback the results and discuss the issues raised such as dealing with staff shortages due to absence and improving our communication with each other within the school.

Staff survey responses indicated very clearly that although they felt their job to be both emotionally and physically very demanding they also felt it to be very rewarding with 92% saying they would recommend Riverwalk School as a place to work!

Overall the results were very positive with staff being satisfied with the way they are able to communicate with other people at the workplace, working together in a supportive and collaborative way, with training opportunities offered that are appropriate for the job.

Staff were satisfied that bullying and harassment are seen as unacceptable at work, and that complaints are always acted on. Now that we have settled into our lovely new building, it was not a surprise to read that staff were also very happy with the physical environment of their workplace.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for taking part in the survey and for providing a clearer picture of what it is like to work at Riverwalk School.

Parent/Carer Survey Results 2019

Riverwalk would like to thank all the parents and carers (44% return rate) for taking part in this survey.  This is a massive increase on the 2016 parent/carer survey which had a return rate of 31.7%.

From the survey parents / carers feel their children like coming to school; they feel their children are safe and treated with respect. Teaching is good and there is effective communication between class teachers and parents.  Parents / carers are clear that they see Riverwalk as a school that is approachable and willing to listen to their concerns.

The full results and quotes from parents and carers can be found here.
